While the whole thing is really far-fetched, it's worth watching to see how it all ends
The first two X-Men movies were short but really great. The Last Stand unfortunately doesn't live up to the other two, but it's worth watching for those who want to see how it ends. (SPOILER WARNING) It's a pretty good movie but the whole story is based off of shaky foundations and very far-fetched ideas. Jean comes back from the dead because apparently her powers formed a cocoon of some sort. She kills Cyclops and Xavier (sad moment) and is then convinced my Magneto to help him take over the world. She was DEAD! And now we're supposed to believe her powers are the most dangerous of any ever discovered? Uh... ok.

To keep it simple, The Last Stand mainly suffers from an 'out there' storyline. Otherwise the movie is good with spectacular special effects, an excellent music score, and some more great acting. If you liked the first two films you should watch this, if not then don't bother, because you'll only like it less.

The future is rosy even if the UN Ambassador is blue
The third act of this tragedy or drama is this time bringing the fight within the mutant community. The President of the USA, with his Secretary to Mutant Affairs who is not even informed, let alone associated, to the President's decisions on such a matter, has paid for the invention or devising of a special genetic vaccine to "cure" the mutants of their mutant-ness. This gives the opportunity to the bad mutants to gather some groups and even crowds and to start some terrorist action against this cure in the name that mutant-ness is not a disease.

The final battle in order to destroy the research center that devised the "cure" and the scientist who is behind the discovery is spectacular with a bridge rotated in order to tie up San Francisco to Alcatraz by way of the Golden Gate Bridge. This time the battle will bring the bad mutants down once and for all. The leader of them, a certain Magneto, will be injected four doses of the "cure", the winged son of the President of the USA will save the scientist, and Wolverine, the man with metal bones and claws on his hands will get rid of the too famous Jean who had gone wild and evil after her resurrection from the water catastrophe in the previous film.

Then peace and safety are finally assured and men and mutants can live happily together thereafter and have many children. Such films are definitely naive as for the meaning but they are saved by the special effects and are entertaining after all. We could of course compare this trilogy with the Aliens first three films, or with the Terminator trilogy, or the two Star Wars trilogies. We would always find somewhere the belief that the future is not so grim as it may look and that good will always get over evil. Then the differences are in the surviving or winning models.

From the Genesis or Ragnarok model of Terminator, to the bi-partisan peace of this X-Men trilogy, to the never ending resurrection of the Aliens in the Aliens series, to the democratic victory of the two Star Wars trilogies, we can write volumes on the persistence and return of such ideological, supposedly religious or philosophical models, but the best novel ever written on that subject remains Stephen King's The Stand.

Logical? No. Fun? Yes!!!
This was an excellent ending to a terrific series, and worthy of all the hype it's generated so far. Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellan put forth strong performances as Wolverine and Magneto, and the rest of the performers, with the exception of the actors playing Cyclops and Rogue, are believable in spite of the roles they are playing. The time passes quickly in the movie, and it is well-worth a second viewing. There are a lot of intense scenes, and some gruesome deaths.

Chronicles of Riddick Theatrical vs Directors cut
For those who want the bottom line first, the Directors cut has a good amount of extra footage and some actual changes to the movie dialogue, some are good, some I don't like. Overall I prefer the theatrical version.

Note the Trilogy does NOT include the theatrical version of the movie.

Side note: The 30 min or so animated movie in the trilogy is kind of cool but you won't be missing anything if you don't see it.

Spoilers below. Don't read if you want to be surprised when you watch the movie. You've been warned.

I watched the Theatrical version of this a couple times and grew to love it and there were a couple things on the Directors cut that threw me off - especially since I have a knack for remembering little details.

With the Directors cut you will get strange flashbacks or/and visions of someone communicating with Riddick about his homeworld and what happened to the other Furians and what he must do. They are kind of lame and out of place - they took them out of the theatrical version for a reason.

You will also get an additional little scene with the lady merc and Riddick after hes been captured with some sexual undertones. Also the scene with Kyra getting 'searched' by the guards goes a little further. Welcome additions to the movie.

Now something that really irked me and drove me to buy the theatrical version after already owning the directors cut - In the exchange between the air elemental (Aereon) and Lord Marshal they changed the dialogue from something fairly hard hitting to something more cheesy. Instead of 'the odds are good... that Riddick is still alive.' You get - 'the odds are good... that you will find the under-verse... soon.' or something along those lines. If you've seen the Theatrical you probably know what I'm talking about, if not it probably won't bother you.

The other thing that bothered me with the D. Cut is at the very end - instead of Vaako saying 'you keep what you kill' its Riddick saying it under his breath. And for an odd turn the Directors cut actually takes out some narration at the end by the elemental Aereon - which wasn't much but I liked having it.

Bottom line (again) I'd stick to the Theatrical version and hold off on getting the directors cut trilogy if you're in it for Chronicles of Riddick. It has some nice additions but most the modifications they did to the movie are not welcome.

Riddick
the story of Riddick from pitch black to where he becomes the leader of the Necromongers. including the bridge from when the left the unknown planet to where he was hiding on the other planet.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED - BUT GREAT!!!
First, I must say that, as with another reviewer, I found the "packaging" misleading. There is no "trilogy". There are two movies and a cartoon. Having said that, the two movies are EXCEPTIONAL. And these are the "director's cut" version of the movies - which is great. Vin is very powerful in these roles and I actually prefer Pitch Black because it was done on a small budget and it was much more character driven.

Pitch Black was like watching Vin on a small stage, verus the large budget Hollywood screen. Thus, the character seemed more raw to me in Pitch Black. I hope a true 3rd movie follows, to make it a REAL trilogy. I heard some talk about the director thinking of a 3rd movie, but on a smaller budget, like Pitch Black. I think that would be fantastic, as I enjoyed the lower budget movie even more. So PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring it on. These two movies are on my all time favorites list.

It was okay
After watching Wanted I looked up the director to decided to watch this movies and Nightwatch. Which they had interesting story lines the movies themselves were very slow paced with some very good action scene thrown in here and there. The story line got a little confusing here and there but I never read the book which probably could have helped. I would say over all, no harm, no foul.

style triumphs over substance
Timur Bekmambetov's "Day Watch" has the look and feel of a deliberately manufactured "cult phenomenon." This in-your-face, aggressively stylish sequel to the hit Russian film "Night Watch" tells a hyper-kinetic but largely incoherent tale of vampires from another dimension who keep crossing over into the "real world" to wreak all sorts of havoc on the people who live there. Anton and Svetlana are two law enforcement officials trained to combat these otherworldly terrorists.

It doesn't much matter if the story itself doesn't make a whole lot of sense, since "Day Watch" is really all about atmosphere and style anyway. The ginned-up editing, the frenetic camerawork, the subtitles dancing all over the screen, and the twisty/turny scenario involving shape-shifting, body-switching secret agents all add up to a full two-hours-and-eleven-minutes worth of migraine-inducing sensory overload (not unlike a Robert Rodriguez film on crack). Yet, for all that, the film is never boring and, indeed, all the visual and auditory stimuli makes it virtually impossible for one to tear one's eyes off the screen even for a moment.

Thus, "Day Watch" will probably satisfy the niche audience for which it's aiming. And even those with a lesser inclination for this sort of thing may find the movie watchable and even intriguing at times - even if it all does get to be just a tad much after awhile.

Great Film (Just watch it in Russian with subtitles)
If you don't like watching movies in subtitles, then don't get this movie. IT IS IN RUSSIAN. The English version of this is pathetic, so don't bother. Its a very good film, but not a masterpiece.

HILARIOUS!
This is one of my favorite comedy/action movies! I thought it was hilarious and I liked the brad/angelina pair A LOT! They are great together(even in real life)..great movie!

Incredible star chemistry!
The great driving force of this movie is not the plot or the characters, but the two stars. This is where Hollywood succeeds matching two actors that have enormous chemistry together and placing them on the big screen. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie know what they're doing in this film, and you know they know how much to give and when to pull back. The action sequences are incredible and almost Tarantino like, all in all a popcorn bowl of fun movie watching for men and women.

Love the movie, even better in blu-ray
I love everything about this movie. Vince Vaughn didn't have a large role but he was funny. Brad and Angelina play well off each other. The blu-ray video and audio quality were reference. The surrounds were used extensively. One of my favorite movies on blu-ray.

Great movie-great price.
I ordered this for my husband because he loves this movie. The price was right and it was shipped quickly.

favoloso!!!!!!!!!!

2.5 stars out of 4
The Bottom Line:

Despite having acquired a considerable cult following, this movie is little more than artfully constructed eye-candy--pretty boys without shirts for the girls to enjoy, and explosions and anarchy for the boys.

Box description
I made sure to read the descriprion before I buy. This one said there is russian language, but when we turned it one and went to settings there was spanish, french and english, BUT NO RUSSIAN !
Vere disappointing.

What the hell....?
I am a big horror movie fan.Over half of my collection is horror.I love top notch, big budget horror.I love B rate horror.Heck,I love some horror that wishes it were B rated horror. That said,I just do not understand how this movie gets such high praise.
The basic premise of the movie, with the powers of light and dark and those whose job is to keep the balance between the two(anyway I think that is the basic story)is pretty good.

The first five minutes or so explaining the history of the war between good and evil really had my interest. Then the rest of the movie happened. To me it is just a jumbled mess(with russian sub-titles).The over-all look and feel of the movie is very cool.I liked the main character and the actor that played him.If it had a different director and/or editor,it would have been better to me.
But look at the ratings, alot of people liked it.It just wasnt my cup of tea.
